Chess A Game of Kings

Chess: A Game of Kings

Chess is called, “The Game of Kings.”  Many attribute this to the fact that the game was played by royalty and nobility throughout history, while some take the more simplistic viewpoint that because the central theme of the game revolves around the “king piece,” it is therefore referred to as “The Game of Kings.”  I believe because the game itself is regal, it can only be referred to as, “The Game of Kings.”  Chess is a metaphor for life. A Land Called Terra

The land is idyllic; a peaceful refuge tucked away in a growing city of 70,000 people.  We call this piece of property Terra which means “earth.”  It also happens to be the same name as the property in Gone with the Wind (different spelling: Tara) that Scarlett O’Hara tried desperately to save following the Civil War.  There is an odd eeriness in similarity to our current world situation.  We can all feel the strains of the world showing their hairline fractures that could very soon be fully broken.  We are all witnessing friends and families being subtly fractured ever so

Disney Downer

Spotify At the beginning of every year, Adi and I make something we like to call, The Mind Movie.  I know what you might be asking:  What exactly is a Mind Movie?  Well, being great believers in the concept that what you think you become, a Mind Movie is a visualization technique used to manifest whatever goals and desires we may have by creating a mental mind movie showing us having already “accomplished” these goals.  The idea behind this is to create a vivid, multisensory experience in our mind to illustrate to us what achieving these goals would actually look,

Paris: The Heist

Listen on Spotify (The following is an excerpt from my book We’ll Always Have Paris) “My phone is missing!” Adi said as we exited Notre Dame. We were now officially into hour two of knowing each other, and Adi had become the victim of a time-honored tradition when visiting Paris.  She was pickpocketed—faster, maybe, than anyone in the history of modern civilization. “Are you sure?” I asked, trying to remain calm. “I just had it back at Notre Dame.  I know I had it because I sent a text to my sister telling her that I had arrived.  It was

Bald Head Island

A Bald Head Island Odyssey: Be the Lighthouse

Bald Head Island is a gem; I almost hesitate to write about it because bringing too much attention to this hidden oasis might ruin the charm of this exclusive little getaway off the coast of Wilmington, NC.  Adi and I returned to Bald Head for the second straight year to lead a yoga and meditation retreat for Lighthouse Film Company that is based in Wilmington and is owned by our friends, Brad and Andrea Walker. Brad and Andrea are truly exceptional people—they care.  They care about each other, they care about their family, and they care about the people who
