Death and Funerals (Number 9)

Many people are frightened by dreams of funerals and death, however there is no need to fear these dreams—they are not a prophecy of death. A funeral in a dream is posing a question that asks, “If the person in the dream were not around how would you proceed forward with your intentions regarding the dream?”  The dream brings this to the surface because the person in question is most likely the reason why we aren’t doing something and without them in the picture we might behave differently.  You may be doing something only because they are in the your life.

For instance, if a parent were to die in a dream it is asking, “How would you live your life differently if you weren’t concerned with your parent’s opinion of your decisions?”

These dreams are encouraging to live our life the way that best suits us.  Obviously, we don’t want to intentionally try to hurt anyone, but it is important that we follow our own path without concern about what other people might think.

Your Own Funeral:

Although dreams can at times warn us about our own death, they don’t do it through the metaphor of a funeral.  When we dream of our own death it is advising us that an aspect of ourselves must die in order for another, more positive aspect to find its natural expression.  Birth, life, death is a natural sequence of order in all things.  Soil must be barren and then tilled, seeds must be planted while growth eventually occurs only to wither away back to the earth until the process begins again.

Dreaming about a funeral is actually a good dream. If you are trying something new and doing self-work the dream is illustrating to you that you’re making progress.  It’s important to realize that in order to fully change, we must let go of something we are currently doing that is blocking the positive changes that await. If you are not doing anything new, this dream is a prophecy that major change is coming your way.  Something you are doing now, and that could include your career, will change dramatically in your future.

Dying:

Oftentimes, our passed loved ones will visit us in a dream.  Since we never really die and our pure essence is energy which transforms into a new state of consciousness, when a loved one enters a dream, they are bringing us a message that they are with us.  Pay close attention to what they are telling you because they are bringing information to your dream state that you may be unaware of or are simply ignoring.  Additionally, if someone has died very recently these visits are meant to help heal the trauma of the process.  Most times the person who has died has come to let you know that they are doing well on the other side in the astral.  Other symbols will convey the necessary things that need to be healed in order to move forward.

More commonly, if a dream features a relative who is not dying in real life it is simply illustrating to us an aspect of ourselves that we are allowing to die.  A female dying warns that we are letting our female side die and we need to open up our heart to live a more heart-centered life.

If it is a friend or relative ask, what ability or gift do they have that you have noticed or admired?  Are they a writer?  A singer?  A medium or psychic?  This dream is revealing to us that we are letting that part of us die by not infusing any energy into it.  Do not take this dream lightly.  A balanced flow of female energy, including balanced expression of feelings, is vital to keeping your heart and circulatory system healthy.  Using our soul’s gifts allows us to live a healthier life which benefits the heart.   And even if we don’t feel we have the same gift as our relative, it simply could be telling us to breathe life into our female side by sharing our feelings as necessary part of understanding who we are.
